Hi all,

Something which has been bugging me for a long time, is getting a capture card, to record footage from a video console. Problem is, I play in HD, and would prefer to play in HD whilst recording onto my computer, in standard definition.

I had the thought the other day, of getting a HDMI splitter, and buying a HDMI to Scart lead to plug into the back of a capture card, whilst playing in HD on the TV, but i'm not entirely sure that would work tbh. Anyone able to help??

I am not sure that will work. But you can purchase HD Capture Cards, but much more expensive! :)

Thing is, I want to try and avoid HD Capture Cards, as they are too expensive, and wasn't sure this method would work, hence the thread.

Bump.

Is there a device which will convert hdmi into standard def, for a very cheap price? Or alternatively, what's the cheapest hd capture card on the market which uses hdmi?
