Help running the Great South Run

Hi all,

I have signed up to do the Great South Run on 24th October and due to a number of factors; changing job, playing other sport and above all...sheer lazyness, I have not done much training for it.

So, I have basically 8 weeks to get myself in the right shape for the 10 mile run and considering running comes about as naturally to me as scoring does for our strikers ( ;) ), I need some help!

To give you some info on where I am about now, I can run about 3 miles on a pace of about 9 and a half mins ish but I would ideally like to do it in about 1 hour 30mins so I need an average pace of 9minute miles. Now I know I haven't given myself a lot of time to train but I reckon this could be do able if I set my mind to it...what do you reckon?

Also, what would you recommend in terms of training? I think I can realistically train 2-3 times a week.

Any help would be much appreciated!

P.S. If you are laughing at my lack of fitness, stop it - it's not nice!
