With our present Goalie going on vaction and my waistline expanding with the new job.I have been asked to tend net on friday evening.I have played in goal a couple of times since I left school. Can anyone give me some good advice before my jim Stannard type heroics.

Make sure and tell your defenders you want plenty of protection on the goal line for corners and so forth - besides having lads on the posts, we play one right in front and behind ours so no attackers can crowd him out and prevent him from running out to catch a cross...usually works and saves our lad getting bashed around the place. Other than that - if your defence are passing it around, look for the ball to exchange a pass also - keep trying to get a feel for the ball to keep your concentration up and head in the game. Thats all i can think of really mate - good luck with it!
