Word on the 'grapevine' is that it'll be confirmed on Monday that Hornchurch will be dropping down 2 leagues to the Ryman League 1, or possibly even further down the ladder to the Essex Senior League. This is all due to former manager George Borg's winding up petition against the club.

Absolutely criminal really. I don't know how Borg can go about trying to dismantle a club single handed, especially one that has had the problems it's had, what with the financial collapse and the 10 point deduction. You have to feel for the fans, and even more so because of what a top bunch they are at Bridge Avenue.

It would seem that Hornchurch are paying a hefty price for trying to live their dream. No one, however, should be allowed to kill a football club like their ex-manager is trying to, but we are seeing this kind of thing more and more in football these days.

Sad.

Borg is a w****r. I watched Hornchurch early in the season before all their problems and really enjoyed the way they played.

quite a few ex-southend down there too...

Not any more. Of the ex-Shrimpers who started the 2004-05 season with the Urchins, only Jamie Southon is still playing for them. The others :

Damon Searle returned to Forest Green Rovers in November 04. However he couldn't prevent them from being relegated from the Nationwide Conference but was rewarded fror his efforts with the Players' Player of the Year award and named in the Wales semi-professional squad that will defend the Four Nations Trophy in Ireland later this month.

Jamie Stuart joined the revolution at Grays Athletic in November 04 and subsequently became a crucial cog in their Conference South Championship side, winning their Supporter's Player-of-the-Year award. (Stuart Thurgood was runner-up). The Blues are due to play in the FA Trophy Final against Hucknall Town next Sunday; the new Canvey Island?

Steven Clark joined Conference side Dagenham & Redbridge in December 2004 and scored an absolute wonder goal against Gravesend & Northfleet back in January 05, the video file of which was doing the rounds on ShrimperZone at the time. He was transferred to Weymouth in March 2005 so he's back playing in a claret-and-blue shirt after starting out at West Ham United!

Adam Locke moved to Ryman League Division One side Bromley in March 2005 and helped them secure fourth place and a spot in the promotion play-offs. Bromley (who also feature former SUFC triallist Allan McLeod) beat Horsham in the play-off final and are promoted to the Ryman League Premier Division.

Coach Jim Stannard left to take up the helm at Redbridge FC (formerly Ford United), who finished the season bottom of the Conference South and have been relegated to the Ryman League Premier Division.

Curiously, I read in the non-league paper this morning that the Conference has ejected them due to them being liquidated. Funny this, as they are not in liquidation yet (although they are due to be liquidated in the week).

Surely the conference should have held off the announcement until this has been confirmed. What will happen if there is a late saviour and Hornchurch don't go down? Surely they will be able to take the conference to task over it! How will Maidenhead, who have been told they have a reprieve, feel if they are suddenly re-relegated?

Stupid behaviour.
