Also found a Facebook Group for fans of a guy referred to as the 'Penny Picker'.

Apparently this guy hangs around the town centre and picks up coins that people drop or throw at him. He likes nightclub queues, so I am led to believe. He gives the money to charity someone said.

Same questions for this guy. Know him? Met him? What's his story?

Well, what you don't know is that sunglasses man and coin-pick-up-man are in fact the same person.

Bet you didn't know that. Don't tell anyone, he doesn't really want it to get out

how old is he as i remember him being around the town in the late 80's

everyone still does. apparently he gives all the pennys he gets and gives them to southend hospital. how true it is i don't know!

I bet thats what he tells everyone.

I used to work in Southend years back and would often see steve running down to the Amusements on the high st whilst getting someone to look after his Flower stall , then pegging it back to find more coins , obviously when he was out of dough and thought the machine was nearing a pay out .

To say he spent more time in that place than on his stall is a understatement :p
