Dagenham spend lumps of money on their ground,
Dagenham have a squad of 24 with 2 on loan,
Dagenham (as far as I know)don't have massive debts,
Dagenham average 2000 home crowds,

Southend in comparison are a pale shadow even though we almost treble their crowd,It's bloody annoying.

They get talent from non-league and then sell them on. They had Dwight Gayle recently and must have made £1m+ from selling to Peterborough who sold him onto Palace.

Because we have an owner that cant afford to run the club.

We get around 100,000 going through the turnstiles whilst the Daggers get around 40,000,Dagenham seem to do ok yet we are always broke,I don't get it.

They haven't taken any gambles, no matter where they have been promoted to they haven't put the budget up to try and survive/succeed at that level. Any windfalls they get, they don't squander, they put it aside to plug any holes in their turnover/expenditure. I know Gary Hill, their ex manager, and in his time with them in non league he never saw an increase in the budget to reflect the money they had earned in their FA cup runs and Wembley appearence. They have always been a club that is very careful with money.

As a club, Dagenham are massively punching above their weight season after season. The finances and way the club is run is commendable, I am sure they were favourites for the drop with the bookies this summer.

Fair play to all involved with the club, except the chavvy fans.

Last season the total attendances for league games only,Southend 115,000,Dagenham 43,000.Assume the average cost is a tenner each So Southend had revenue £1,150,000 whilst Dagenham only had £430,000,Even though this club had £720,000 more Dagenham operate far better.

My mates sister works at Daggers, the money they got from the Gayle sell-on pays the entire clubs wage bill for years.

Simple answer is because they are not financially mismanaged behind the scenes. Southend have been insolvent for some time, but somehow, each and every time extinction looks inevitable, we slip the net. You have to ask yourself what effect these last minute bailouts are having - something has got to give.

Dagenham manager: Wayne Burnett - someone whose experience is working on a budget as manager of non-league Fisher, Dulwich Hamlet and Grays. Then became youth team manager at Orient, where he will have learnt to develop young, cheap players, before becoming assistant to John Still at Dagenham, where he'd have got to know the current squad. All five jobs within a 10 mile radius, all dealing with young, cheap players.

Assistant Manager and Academy Manager: Warren Hackett - knows his way round local non-league scene as player and then coach/manager (Waltham Forest, Fisher Athletic and Erith & Belvedere) before making his way up from Centre of Excellence at the Daggers to coach the first team. Still doubles up as Academy Manager.

First team coach: Darren Currie

Academy Manager: see above

Compare that to Southend:

Manager: Northerner Phil Brown, whose experience and ego is at a higher level with more expensive players

Assistant Manager: Northerner Dave Penney - managed Doncaster, Darlington, Oldham and, for less than 2 months, Bristol Rovers. Is he being paid a manager's salary, or an assistant's?

First team coach: Graham Coughlan

Motivational speaker: Jeremy Kyle

Academy Manager: Ricky Duncan

Chief Scout of transfer embargo: Chief Scout Bob Shaw

Note how Dagenham's managerial appointments work their way up. Their favourites won't be Col Ewe rejects because their best mate use to manage them, but youth and reserve players they've come through the ranks with.

Anyway, their no.9 who limped off is probably out for the season: you seen who their physio is?

I said Ricky Duncan should have been promoted when Sturrock was given the job, amazed he is still here

Recently somebody on here suggested that during a 3 year period this clubs admin costs were over 6 million quid,Someone somewhere is making a tidy bundle:winking:
