No. it was to indicate he's a rather nice middle-class bloke,(by profession not background),who should know better.He has a wicked (dry) sense of humour however, which makes him an interesting CPE student,despite his religous affiliation to Opus Dei and rather unconventional (albeit right-wing) views.

On the subject of "booting out Johnny Foreigner",I used to do private classes with an MBA Professor who thought that foreigners like me were all right, (ie EU nationals)), but disapproved of the South American immigrants who were flooding into Spain, during the boom years until the recent 2007/8 crash).
According to an article in El Pais last week, these people (and their dependents), are precisely the groups that are now returning to their different countries of origin,which has lead to a decline in the population and fall in birthrate figures for the first time here in recent years.Of course the recent mass exodus of young middle-class Spainish graduates is also a factor.

This is still an issue in the news, politicians as usual all hot air and wind while a problem grows.
Next will be asylum etc from Eygpt.

There have been a few BBC programmes on Roma beggars from the Balkans & nothing positive from any of them. I do fear that the far right will start targeting them this winter: and that there will be a backlash against ALL immigrants because of the serious anti social actions of some of the Roma and other street type uneducated/unqualified rough sleepers.

I would have thought that any Rumanian from a skilled background would have made a new life in a different country, and bettered thereselves by now. I very much doubt that when the 'floodgates' open' there will be many seeking to flock here, who are financially sound.

Do I want them over here, no. Far to many foreigners speaking their own language and wanting their own 'culteral views' while neglecting our views. We'd had an influx of taxi drivers from Afghan who although past the knowledge had no idea where the hospital or train stations were. The question from the other drivers was, how did they pass? Anyway we have enough car washes in Southend

Your post is a personal viewpoint and as Yorkie posted the link to, the data shows that immigrants have made a substantial contribution of the economy which surely in these times of austerity, is a good thing?
