Over three years ago, myself and Scriv launched ShrimperZone onto an unsuspecting public. Neither of us expected the site (and its forums) to take off as well as it did, nor to find ourselves running a site that attracted a hit count that was regularly hitting the 250,000 mark each week. It has been a real labour of love and a project that I have enjoyed immensely since its inception in the Bar Victoria Court in the spring of 2001. Scriv left earlier this year to successfully revamp the official site and matchday magazine.
Unfortunately, circumstances mean that I now have to fade away from having a controlling interest in the site. It's been a tough decision but one which has had to be made. As I move into the next phase of my new life in Spain, I no longer have the time to devote to maintaining the site. Nor can I contribute towards the hosting costs. Reluctantly I've passed over total control (and responsibility) of my most successful ever project to Napster and Leeboy. I know they'll do their utmost to maintain the reputation of ShrimperZone, not only amongst our own fans but also across the footballing community.
It's been fun. It's also been frustrating. With a bit of commercial income to support the site, it can get even better.
With immediate effect, all match reports, articles and comments / suggestions should be sent to Napster and Leeboy. I will maintain the SZ Prediction League until the end of the season; just carry on as normal.
Thanks to everyone for their comments - constructive and critical - and if anyone thinks they can do better or fancies giving the lads a hand (especially financially), drop them a line.
