Nope this isnt a rant about how children who say 'yuk' to the smell of food are intrinsically racist but more of cry for help.

I've been living in the Basildon/Laindon area for about a year now and still havent found a decent takeaway/restaurant to supply me with my curry needs.

Does anyone know of a decent establishment in this area. Any recommendations would be gratefully received. I'm getting a takeaway tonight as I'm having a curry craving all day.

haha good luck with that mate...

I worked in Bas Vegas for Ford until I moved out here to the Peoples' Republic of Canadia. All the lads I worked with that lived out that way were very uncomplimentary about the standard of curry house in the local area.

Every curry night we had we ended up at the Bekash, which is on the way to Wickford on the A132(?) for an eat in curry. Whilst not in the Laindon area, it served up a pretty decent Jalfrezi for sure!!

The Bekash near Wickford is a pretty good Curry house all round, although a touch pricey.

Well I'm glad its not just me that think the curry serving establishments in the area are dire. The curries I've recieved have ranged from a supposed vindaloo which was just a generic 'tomato curry sauce' to an almost meatless jalfrezi. Truly bad.

On the downside I'm gagging for a decent ruby and its looking like I'll have to jump in the car and head over to Shenfield for my usual fix. Its official, Basildon is a 'decent curry free zone'!

Saying that I will give Zuma a go - thanks Birri for that.

There's two top notch curry houses in Shenfield.... Tandoori Nights being my preference.

Absolutely, Tandoori nights is superb. I remember when I used to live near enough to have half a dozen pints in the ole green dragon and then stop off in Tandoori nights before walking home in five minutes for curry goodness.

I miss those days :'(
