Good evening all, I'm hoping you could help me out, does anybody have any pictures, match day team sheets or programmes with Neville on please? Also can anyone remember what squad number he wore when he played for you?
Hoping someone can help, thanks and kind regards.

It was shirts numbered 1-11 during Southall's time at the club as we didn't use squad numbers then.

I remember Southall making an absolutely outstanding save from an Andy Scott overhead kick at Brentford on debut. He played very well that day. Pity he was gash in all his other games, we may have had a glimmer of hope for survival if Royce had been recalled.....

Nine games, two points.

<shudder>

I do remember him being in the hospitality boxes at the LDV Final v Blackpool, fine figure of a man.

He spends literally a page and a half on his Southend "career" in his autobiography. He used to drive from Wales to Southend and apparently only trained one/two days a week with us.

To be fair, given the rest of his career featured dozens of international caps, two league titles, two FA Cups, a Cup Winners' Cup and a FWA Player of the Year, one can hardly blaming for skimming over his spell at Southend...

Pfft. It should be the highlight of his career.

A page and a half - must be using a large font !
