While doing a bit of tactics reading recently I came across this interesting video:
I'm not sure it would be a viable strategy in the longer run without the surprise value, but it did make me think - how valuable are walls against direct free kicks? From where I am sitting, the main pro is forcing the taker to aim high so there is a higher chance of them missing over the bar. You might be able to do this though with a well placed two-man wall rather than the ridiculous sizes we sometimes see - and how much benefit does a large wall really give vs the increased visibility the keeper has on the flight of the ball with a smaller one? Not come to any definite conclusions on my end but thought it could be an interesting thing to discuss.
