In a world of my own.
Lads,

I started out last saturday putting £30 into my William Hills account. I took a nice safe bet to get me started. This won me £46. I then took my £30 back to Mr LTSB where it came from and I have since been gambling with profit.

9 days on and after a series of decent wins I am now holding £126.60 pure profit. Not a lot but if you take it as a % return most people would be happy.

Been studying my next move and I have noticed that Hull are at 1.53% to beat us tonight. I dont want to risk it all but simple maths tells me if I use £100 of my profit to back Hull I will get back in return £153.

£53 seems like a good return for a nights work to me. I can see no way at all that we are not going to loose in 90 mins. I accept we could do it but cant see the lads fancying a hugh northern trip to some grim northern premiership club.

My question is do you think its wrong for me to profit from the Blues defeat?

Any ideas if Hull are expected to play a full strenght side...(Not that it will matter I fear).

I'm more worried about some of their fringe players. they have quality in their squad and they'll be looking to impress. as mentioned in a different thread, Ghilas and Altidore look a real threat

A win's a win Dave. I've backed Leeds to beat us at Elland Road the last two occasions we have played there. It felt a bit dirty but if you want to do well in betting long term you need to take emotion out of it.

I frequently do what I call a "painkiller" bet. It only occurs when Southend are roaring odds on against inferior opposition and makes it a less bitter pill if we lose. I therefore "lay" Southend on the exchanges and if we draw or lose, I win. If we win, I lose, but then I want us to win so I'm happy.

Personally I wouldn't risk most of your money on one bet anyway. If we go to extra time, you'll lose and don't forget we held Chelsea last year. We are a difficult side to beat.

By the way, best price on Hull that I could find is 4/7 (1.57) with Sky Bet.

BetFred, Ladbrokes and Coral all go 6/1 Southend.

What odds the draw Ux, seeing as we seem to be specialists at the moment. I'm guessing somehwere around 9/4

Go for £50 on both sides separately (is that allowed?), then you're in the win either way, takings should be greater than £50 so you gain there :)
