Breaking News Isaac Hutchinson completes move to Derby County

I really think he will make it somewhere in the professional game. He needs to bulk up a bit and get game smart and he'll be a really talented attacking midfielder.

His move to their under 23s shows just how lacking our squad, and perilous our situation, is. We were looking to him to spark something for us in league 2, when they want him in their yourh ranks to potentially come good. We could be doing that

Ive said this before, but their 23s are miles ahead of the level ours are. They play the best clubs in the country, Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea.....our 23s play Exeter, Stevenage, Barnet.

Our first team have been beaten twice in 12 months by 23s from the same league as Derby’s.

I agree it was too much for him to be expected to spark a poor side in league 2 but at Derby he’s far from playing in a youth team!

Btw it took him 4-6 months to break out of our 23s into the first team. There’s a pecking order and a process so anyone thinking he or anyone else was expecting to go into their first team squad, I would imagine are very mistaken

Out of curiosity did Cocu and Rooney personally watch Isaac before the signing do you know OllieSteph ? That would be impressive. Or is recruitment down to some kind of specialist scout at a club like Derby ? I think we heard David Pleat came to have a look at Kelman for Spurs before their bid.

I am told Isaac spent a few days at Derby training and played a game in front of the 1st team staff prior to signing and I’m led to believe that Cocu had the final say.

Whoever it was it doesn’t really matter - they’ve seen enough and signed him up. That says it all really - good luck to the lad. Sometimes we gel in a new work environment and other times not so much. Their U23s sounds like a better place to be for his development than a struggling side in League Two - but he’s got to make it so. No matter what the challenges he needs to rise above it and shine as best he can and I hope he does.

Yes they play against some very decent young players so it should do the lad the world of good. Our under 23s play big clubs but mostly championship teams, we are the only league 2 club in our division so our lads find it tough especially as many of them are only 18 or under! http://www.footlive.com/table-standings/england/professional-development-league/

good luck to the young man -

it must be a positve to the SUFC squad to get unhappy players gone

Really pleased for the lad to finally get away from some of the abusive bellends we seem to have supporting this club.

Anyone that doesn’t wish him success is an idiot because his success earns us more money. He did nothing wrong at this club and had a torrid time under Sol. Hopefully with the right coaching and experienced players around him his career will flourish!

Good luck Isaac!
I agree, for the most part.
He did nothing wrong, but he did play averagely for the most part.
Maybe, he will thrive at Derby. As you said, any sell-ons; appearance clauses in the transfer etc, will only benefit us.

I know i am in the minority on the board but if we get any money for Issac i think it is business well done. He has a lot of talent. Plus it frees a place up in the Squad.

He did seem always to run up a blind alley's and nearly always lost the ball.
I wish him well and hope he proves me wrong, but i am quite suprised a Championship Club have paid money for him. However i never abused or slagged him off, but thanks for your service Issac wish you well in the future.

If you swapped Peter Butler or Steve Tilson for Hutchinson v Harrowgate, then neither of them would have looked any good in their prime.....Now put them in the centre of that midfield aged 20 and you would have the same embarrassing posts by the same embarrassing people......Well maybe not because back then, when they were 20. Young lads of 14 were more interested in becoming one of the boys in the North Bank and would show absolute loyalty to their own young players.

Still I cant blame 14 year olds, they just follow badly set examples. The stuff on here is sadly reflected in all aspects of our lives.....In the "new normal' world

For those of you who are way to keen to dismiss Isaac Hutchinson. No one is claiming he is the finished article or ready for the Championship but the truth is the sneering few know this but they have used it as a straw man argument.

As it happens I have met Isaac and his brother away from football. Both nice young lads who were training hard in the summer of lockdown.... So when they reported back they could be up near the top of fitness tests, rather than offer lame "no preseason" excuses.

When he spent time training and trialling with Derby they must have seen the same qualities in a young man that I could see......They sign people on character as well as ability....What a shame that due to a long string of some bizarre circumstances we haven't had the chance to see Isaac progress as he, more than any of you, would have wanted.....He now has that chance. He has earned that from years of sacrifice and hard work. So good luck to him, our failure should not be heaped on him or any other young player.

Agree with ‘most’ of your comments but “14 year olds just follow bad examples” - really ?
Far too easy to generalise and lump all young teenagers into some worthless group that can’t think for themselves and have their own valid and insightful views.
Ive known plenty of 24 , 34 , 44 and 54 year olds that also follow bad examples.
A fool can be any age.

I'm certainly not claiming that. At the time I posted that there was a timely debate about whether a certain poster was only 14. Obviously it reads different to you several days later.

Its the 44 and 55 year olds that scream abuse to lads half their age who grip my s***

As for young lads... There are young people who post on here, who could testify that when I have either coached them as under 15's or later captained them in the mens teams for Rayleigh CC. It is always in a positive, encouraging way and they are treated like adults by me. I have even had to defend one or two from opposition 50 year olds, trying to bully them.......So its something I take seriously and certain Southend fans disgust me.

P.S for those of a sensitive nature please note I said certain fans.....Which means not all of you or even the majority....So if you aren't one of them then you don't have to take offence.
