It seems that everyone's saying the new Star Trek film is great?

It will be like Thunderbirds or Transformers .. Total *****.. I wonder where they will manage to factor in a fiesty kid who saves the day, possibly with a cute pet that sacrifices its life .. Spock will shag Uhura.. Kirk WILL say 'beam me up Scotty' and various other rubbish

Certain bits of the Star Trek franchise are exceptionally well written. The Enterprise series is superb, apart from the theme tune, and the Next Generation was very good, if a little politically correct and cheesy in places.

Having watched the trailers, I suspect that this one will be more guns and explosions than good dialogue, but I'll give it a chance.

This should go on another thread but I haven't yet bothered myself to watch the first Star Trek film, which must be about 30 years old now, never mind all the others.

I like the original series with the women in mini-skirted uniforms though.
