Was wondering if any of those that I'm training aren't really worth training. Also how many sports psycho's do I want?

You're along the right lines there, but you can probably get some slightly better trainees than that for £1k. Now's a good time to shop as everyone is pulling youth guys at the start of the season.

Chuck a cheeky £1k on these guy for example (but don't get dragged into a bidding war and walk away if someone else starts bidding). IMO it's better to spend an extra £1k and get someone with respectable instead of mediocre stamina, as that will give you a minimum of 7 weeks' worth of nets you can use elsewhere when it comes to train up everyone's stamina.

5. Cameron Andre £0 (opening price)
Plays for: latti XI Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Age: 17 years old Batting: competent Concentration: mediocre
BT Rating: 5,571 Bowling: abysmal Consistency: feeble

3. Matthew Lowe £0 (opening price)
Plays for: Right Arm Slop Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Age: 17 years old Batting: woeful Concentration: worthless
BT Rating: 7,984 Bowling: competent Consistency: competent
Deadline: 17/04/2011 01:38 Fielding: competent

Also fire Tonge as he's useless yet your highest earner. I'm sure B or someone else with more time can find some skill trades for you.

I'd look for an A/R that is better at bowling than batting, someone like this guy would be good. Also take the fielding net off of the W/K and put it on the A/R.

Gaz Sharma (3975117) Gaz is a defensive LH Batsman, and a destructive LM Bowler. He has woeful leadership skills and worthless experience.

He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and fresh fitness.

Plays For: Cricket Italia

My two penneth worth:

As YB says, you should be able to pick up competent trainees for £1k, my guy Wicks didn't even get that one I listed him first time round, he expires later if you want to put a bid on.

Ian Wicks - 17 yo, BT Rating=4,169, Wage=£572
A defensive RH batsman and a steady LFM bowler. He has feeble leadership skills and abysmal experience. He has no preference and no trait.
He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and invigorated fitness.

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: mediocre
Batting: woeful Concentration: worthless
Bowling: competent Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: worthless

Only train from mediocre if your player has a couple of high secondaries, preferably respectable stamina. You want to be looking for players with an absolute minimum wage of £500 as otherwise they will be low mediocre and simply not worth training.

Definitely do not train that 'all rounder' in bowling. Carry on his batting, he looks high mediocre, but to train from feeble is a real waste of time, he'll be 19 before he reaches respectable at which point he'll be worth no more than he is now.

I'll keep an eye on the market for half decent trainees.

10:20 this morning, that wage makes him fairly high competent, current bid £1,000:

Benny Abbott (3974057)
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 4,355
Wages: £637 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: abysmal
Batting: competent Concentration: mediocre
Bowling: feeble Consistency: woeful
Fielding: worthless

10:18 - potential all rounder, high wage. Current bid £5,000 (though will probably go higher)

Mehendra Vasivddin (3971149)
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 7,643
Wages: £1,249 p/w

Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: respectable
Bowling: respectable Consistency: woeful
Fielding: worthless

10:55 - potential all rounder, current bid £12k, high wage

Glenn Bellwood (3956575)
Age: 17 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 6,192
Wages: £1,092 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: respectable Concentration: worthless
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: worthless

Prices may move but they would all be decent trainees if you can pick them up cheaply.

Vassivdin is up at 54k, and the other guy is bout 15k (Bellwood). These guys seem to have quite low secondaries, someone else told me it was better to go for a guy with high secondary and stamina as primary will improve quicker. Have I been misinformed or are they just alternative techniques of training youngsters?

You can improve a low secondary quickly by combining a primary net with a fielding net. For a 17yo this is a quick summary:

Primary:
1 net - 11 weeks
2 nets - 7/8 weeks

Conc/Cons:
One Primary, Fielding or WK - 14 weeks
Primary + Fielding or WK - 7 weeks
Primary + Fielding + WK - 4 weeks

Stamina is 6 weeks whatever the age. Primary training slows as players age (an extra 1-1.5 weeks for every year they age), secondary training speeds up (though not as much as the primary slows).

So a player on a batting and fielding net will see their secondary catch up the primary fairly quickly.

The primary won't improve quicker, it's more a case of secondaries and stamina are undervalued.

If you train the primary, the secondary also improves, whereas if you train stamina only stamina improves. Thus it's more efficient to sign someone with 6 weeks more stamina than 6 weeks more primary. Market inefficiency also means that this tends to be cheaper.

Just to add to this, the reason that I recommended the all rounders with the low secondaries is because on an all rounder it's always worth having a fielding net as it increases three skills whereas it only increases two skills (of value) on a specialist batsman or bowler. So you can get those secondaries up to the primary level fairly quickly. My trainee all rounder was respectable/worthless batting at 'birth' and is now wonderful/wonderful.

Just picked this guy up for a grand as an instinct buy for an all rounder. Has low secondaries and stamina especially for an A/R, so dunno if he is a better prospect than the A/R i currently have.

Lokesh Khan - 17 yo, BT Rating=3,784, Wage=£746
A defensive RH batsman and a defensive RFM bowler. He has woeful leadership skills and worthless experience. He favours Slow Pitches but has no trait.
He currently has competent batting form, mediocre bowling form and fresh fitness.

Stamina: woeful Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: competent Concentration: woeful
Bowling: competent Consistency: feeble
Fielding: worthless

If you see any others on the market i shud go for instead, let me know cos i'd rather sack a few of my trainees that aren't up to scratch in a few weeks and get a very good prospect instead of settling for a few ok prospects.

This is my current A/R trainee:

Pat Duhaney-Riley - 17 yo, BT Rating=5,458, Wage=£526
A cautious LH batsman and a steady LH finger spin bowler. He has abysmal leadership skills and abysmal experience. He has no preference and no trait.
He currently has respectable batting form, respectable bowling form and changeable fitness.

Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: competent
Bowling: feeble Consistency: feeble
Fielding: abysmal
