The pantomime toff has just made himself unelectable as leader, as he has said he's against gay marriage and abortion in any circumstances.

****.

He never had a chance of getting elected anyway, unlike Labour, where members get a long list of choices to vote on, the Conservative MPs vote for their preferred candidate beforehand and only the top 2 can be voted for by the members. It's unlikely JRM would be the second most popular candidate amongst MPs since he's not in the cabinet.

Well it did sort of as he resigned siting his religious beliefs as he needed to "stay faithful to Christ".

I ment it didn't stop him being elected leader of the party, 2 years ago. His resignation was merely down to the fact he was unelectable to the big seat, although that wasn't anything to do with his beliefs on gay people.

You've Gotta love the irony though, the Liberal leader, wasn't in fact, very liberal :hilarious:

He was elected leader as he's got absolutely no chance at the big seat. In fact you could make MrsBlue Lib Dems leader and (s)he'd have as much chance.

"Marriage is a sacrament and the decision of what is a sacrament lies with the Church not with Parliament."

Interested in JRM's view above. What about people who refused to get married in Church (like my wife and I) and chose a registry office ceremony instead? Prat.

Probably thinks you're a Satanist who dances around bloody pentagles naked whilst frolocking with the beasts of the forest.......though to be fair, we all think that.

Strange one for me this one. Read it in the paper earlier and wasn't surprised at his archaic, out-of-touch views which I completely oppose. BUT, I actually appreciated someone stating their views and backing that up with reasoning. I swear everybody is scared to share their beliefs in today's fence sitting society.

A Roman Catholic holds Roman Catholic views. That's news?

I wonder if this thread would have been started if the subject were a Muslim.
