January Window

Grant and Mohsni will go - so this crap today is the future. ooh, exciting.

Someone comes up with near 100,000 Grand, Ron will have him out of the door before you could blink. Lovely cash for Rons bottemless pit of dept.

Can't see anyone offering near £100,000 to a struggling League 2 club for a pro football newbie who, while undoubtedly committed, is still prone to make some extremely rash challenges and get sucked out of position. Maybe eventually he will be a real star, but not yet.

Agreed, I can't see anyone gambling on him yet. He's still unproven, he's only made 11 Football League appearances and they've been mixed. I think Grant will stay too.

Commiting 'Rash challenges and getting sucked out of position' are far more noticable in a struggling side. Mohsni and Grant have been the pluses this season and their weaknesses would be covered by better players should he move on. I dont think our Messiah would even turn down 25K for either of them!

This is an awful side and there is only one person to blame. How do we get out of it? January is the last chance saloon I feel. Unless RM miraculously finds some funds, Sturrock will be in the same position as the summer - offloading and scratching around for 'frees' who will play for the few peanuts Mr Martin might or might not throw their way! What have you done to my Club Mr Martin and how do you sleep at night!

I agree that Mohsni and Grant have been two positives in an otherwise fairly dross-laden side.

However, I am beginning to lose patience with Sturrock and the tired excuses being trotted out for the fact that we have won once in eleven matches. He knew exactly what he was letting himself in for after the very public near-folding of our club at the hands of the High Court over the last 2 years and that there he would have the sum total of a Mars Bar and some l'Oreal conditioner samples to play with when it came to signing players. He didn't have to take the job but these are largely his players that have played for him before but so far are only good enough to have us in 20th position in League 2. Personally at this point it wouldn't bother me (if we manage to stay up) if he does offload most of this lot. I just hope that our form picks up otherwise I'll be wanting us to offload him, if only we could afford it. :madman:

No he did'nt, but with no other club interested in him and the opportunity to pocket substancially more money than lounging about indoors for the foreseeable future, he did what anyone else in that position would do. What has he got to lose?. If it goes t*ts up then he can fall back on the situation the club was/is in when he was appointed and claim he did his best with the resources available.

Oh I quite agree. From his point of view, it was a no brainer to take the job as most other clubs seem to have written him off due to his health issues.

It's just that until now, many of us have been making allowances for the fact that it is a new squad assembled very quickly. However, the fact remains that he assembled this squad himself so he cannot be considered to be blameless. Yes, he hasn't been able to pay money for players but neither have many other sides in this League and those that we do have are "his" players.

I hate Ron for sacking the most successful manager we have ever had but in the here and now, I'd like a manager who can stabilise the ship and keep us in the League. I am now beginning to fear that Paul Sturrock is not that man. Being "sorry for the fans" won't be much consolation if we're playing Forest Green in the Conference!

And when his back pruning his roses in his garden in the West Country, i'm sure he wont be sympathetic to our plight as his pension fund would have increased significantly, as long as Rons cheque dos'nt bounce!.

The January Window will be the key time for PS. Back in August he could only offer meaningless pre-contract agreements. In January he may be able to offer tangible, real contracts to players and hopefully attract better quality. Sadly this assumes he can offload some of the dross he's signed plus get rid of the rather better players he inherited it seems we can't afford. I'm not optimististic but still reserve judgement until the end of January.
