Jim Stannard

Off topic, but isn't the Adkins sacking unbelievable - just when it looks like he has got the Team playing well and to their strengths. Short sighted foreign owners aarrrggghhhh!!

Didn't realise he was still playing, and at such a high level.

When I was in Junior Blues back in the mid 1980s Jim took me and some other lads for some gk coaching. We did some exercise where we took shots at each other (technical I know) and because I was paired with a kid who couldn't have been older than six years old I thought I'd be fair and let the ball go past me into the net. Big Jim saw my act of kindness and said 'what's the matter? Don't you want to save it?' Basically he made me feel a right c*** and I've never really got over that humiliation. I began to see all forms of human kindness as a weakness and in my adult life I have become a real heartless, callous b*stard- all thanks to Jim Stannard and Junior Blues.

I never realised Jim Stannard was such a Southend hero

Pips Roycie's return for QPR as best display by a former Southend keeper against us IMO.

This has come to light via Fulham, some Shrimpers have already donated, let's try and help him out.....Jim needs an operation for prostate which due to the current situation in the world with Covid, the NHS waiting list is over a year and unfortunately the P.F.A will not fund as its not football related. Lets help Jim get his operation and live out his best life.
