I thought it might be an idea for everyone to state their job title, or whether they're students/carers etc. That way we can avoid any arguments as to who said what.

Of course, anyone on Linkedin, can join the Southend United Fans in Business group. Barry the Dog has just joined.

Me: freelance conference producer and organiser of the Spectator Summit, owner of Ltd company.

Supernaut does have impeccable taste.

I'm a health economist at the University of Sheffield. Job is a 3 way split of teaching/lecturing, academic research, and research consultancy. Most of my work is for NICE, who decide if new drugs are cost-effective.

I'm available for private consultancy work if you're in this area.

My own security business floundered after my insistence on investing all profits in Colombian commodities futures met with stony faced antipathy at the caring bank. Now finance director for a manufacturing company.

Ta. And yes, it's pretty good - I started in the warehouse 12 years ago pulling orders for minimum wage, now I own and run the company, and most of the time it's been a total blast (even if the music, being predominantly underground electronic/urban stuff, isn't always my cup of tea).
