Did Julian Bennett sign the pay as you play contract? (sorry not reviewed SZ over past couple of months!!

He is not local and tbh needed more security I think- haven't heard he is fixed up with anyone
 
The club paid his wages all last season and bearing that in mind, you would think he might have stuck around thinking he owed them something in return for that? Had a decent career playing for some okay clubs so can hardly be destitute? I suppose that footballers (or indeed most people these days) don't think like that though. As said above, difficult to see any other club offering him a contract now so up to him and we move on.
 
was a bit unlucky with us to be fair as shoved into a perimeter wall by a Yeovil player.
 
I think it is hard for him to "hang around" the Southend area if he and his family did not move here - even though he had a year's wages for not playing. I bet he would have much preferred to have been fit and playing as well.

I suspect Bennett will have to drop down into non-league to get some match time and fitness unless he can find a club willing to take a gamble.
