Late Winning Goals

Oh that Preston game! Wasn't the equaliser late, maybe not injury time but sure it was close, I was so happy but desperate for the loo and with a train to catch left my seat, I'll take a point at their place! Thanks Kev, can still hear the roars as the ball obviously hit the back of the net, oh well!!
McCormack equalised with two minutes remaining, so yeah, pretty close. We'd only gone behind in the 79th minute to a Graham Alexander penalty. I remember screaming at McCormack to get back to the halfway line and kick-off again after the equaliser because a win was so important. Also remember everyone going crazy when Maher scored the winner.

Thought we were going to stay up that day, we were only 2 points from safety. As it happens, we lost the last four games of the season and that win remains our last in the second tier (and will be for a few years, yet).

Didn't Jabo Ibhere score a winner for Orient at their place, I think it was about 7 mins into 4 mins of injury time.

It's one of only 2 times coming out of a ground when I've been thoroughly ****ed off (the other one being the away game at Scarborough in the FA Cup)

That was an equaliser in a 2-2 draw, February 2008. A young Jason Demetriou started for the O's that day.

Remember the Scarborough game well. ?
Me too. I flew up with the team. To rub salt into the wounds we were massively delayed on the way home.

Their goal was scored by Ashley Sestanovich who ended up doing 8 years for conspiracy to rob.

That '97 game against Gillingham. Boere's might have been the winner, but I'm pretty sure the equaliser came in injury time as well. I wasn't there but I seem to remember Cefax taking an age to update. We were 1-0 down and all the other games had gone to full time, but ours didn't update for about 5 minutes and when it did it went from 1-0 to 1-2!

I'm not sure about how late the winning goal was but I remember a "Ceefax game" away against Swansea. By the time it came round to the 3rd (or 4th) page it was full time and we had suddenly (miraculously?) won 3-2. Adam Locke I think.

This was against a background of never having won at Swansea since the invention of railways. You get the idea ..............

Not sure if it was the Ceefax era but was in a pub in Swindon, seeing the clock had hit five, when we got an equaliser, (hope I'm right & sorry, off topic slightly), against Cardiff, 1-1, my poor daughter couldn't understand why I was running round the pub, as for the locals! Not sure how Swindon did ?

Yes. Those last four games were so disappointing. Kept losing 0-3 at home didn’t we.

I was at the Watford ‘94 away match when we conceded at 90 plus 6 to lose 1-0... i was gutted at the time as before that I’d watched Southend away about 10 times and we had lost every game. I was thinking my luck had changed but how wrong I was... luckily I’ve seen many a Southend away win since then my favourite probably being Ipswich away in our Championship year.... I was hoarse coming back from that one !

I remember that Wycombe game. We were 2-0 up after about 30 minutes and 3-1 up going into the last few minutes. They scored in the 89th and 92nd minute to win.

Let's not forget that the reason we haven't lost many last-gasp games recently is that the opposition have been well out of sight before the 90 minutes were up...

So no-one has scored a last minute winner against us for about two and half years. I would guess that is because most teams have been out of sight by then and have taken their foot off the pedal.

Keep up!
