Loanee watch 2022-23

NLS
No Tommy Davis or Jaden Crowhurst for Hampton and Richmond’s 3-1 win at Taunton. They weren’t on the bench either. Not sure if more needs to be read into that or if they joined the long list of those still with hamstring injuries.

Jack Wood did however start for Tonbridge at Eastbourne and took 2 minutes to open the scoring. He then doubled the lead on 30 minutes. Whilst Eastbourne got a penalty to claw one back with 10 minutes remaining, the Angels held on for a 2-1 win.

Here’s the first

The second is here if you skip ahead to about 1:35 - a lovely taken goal

Aveley weren’t in action Isthmian Premier but their manager won manager of the month for Feb after winning all five games with Oli Coker playing a prominent part.

And a cup final for Oli to look forward to! 🙌

Tommy Davis was back for Hampton, still no Crowhurst in the squad though. They faced Chelmsford who were reduced to 10 men within 20 minutes when the Chelmsford skipper was shown a second yellow. Davis played 59 minutes before departing with the Beavers 1 up. Once he was off Hampton missed a penalty, then Chelmsford missed a penalty before Hampton made it 2-0 with 5 minutes remaining. Chelmsford got a 93rd minute consolation. Hampton are in 17th; their vanquished opponents are 7th.

Tonbridge took on leaders Ebbsfleet with Jack Wood in the starting XI after his 2 goals last time out. They fell behind just before the break but managed an 84th minute equaliser.

Isthmian Prem
Aveley took the lead against Folkestone ten minutes before the break from an Oli Coker corner. The Kentish side equalised from a corner on the hour but Aveley won it in 87 minutes. Oli Coker was then subbed as they sought to run down the clock.
Aveley stay 3rd whilst Folkestone are now 10th.

Isthmian North
Louie Arrowsmith was back from injury for Tilly’s Heybridge Swifts as they hosted run away leaders Hashtag, who had Greg Halford in their side. The top side took 24 minutes to take the lead and had doubled it by the break. Heybridge managed a late consolation.

Great Wakering traveled to midtable Brentwood with Ibrahim Kamara and Jacob Bland both in the starting lineup. The two Blues youngsters helped keep a clean sheet that turned into all 3 points for Rovers with a late winner after Bland’s shot was pushed out. 7 of Wakering’s 20 points have come in the 4 games Bland and Kamara have played together.

In the NLS Tommy Davis was back on the bench as Hampton grabbed a last minute winner to beat Cheshunt 2-1.

Jack Wood started in Tonbridge’s Kent Senior Cup tie against Ramsgate. Tonbridge lost 4-3 in a seesaw match.

Louis Arrowsmith was on the bench for the Tolleshunt D’Arcy Cup tie v Witham. They didn’t need him as Witham scored 2 own goals and crashed out 3-0.

In the Combined Counties North Fin Purcell made his debut for Chalfont St Peter. He conceded 3 goals as they lost 3-0 at Broadfields United.

Second-year scholar Fin Purcell has headed back out on loan, this time to Combined Counties League Premier Division North side Chalfont St Peter (he’s from Hertfordshire, so a lot closer to home). He made his debut this evening in a 3-0 defeat at Broadfields United, although a couple of the goals were reportedly deflected. The Saints are now 17th in the table, one point and one place below this evening’s opposition.

Jack Wood scored for Tonbridge. He curled a shot in to the top corner on 23 minutes as the Angels traveled to Havant. He nearly made it 2 when his shot hit the post just before half-time. A late penalty denied the Angels all three points though and the chance to draw level in the table with their hosts as the play off battle heats up.

Tommy Davis came on as a 63rd minute sub for Hampton and Richmond at Dover. They were 1-0 up at the time but soon added a second. They later added an injury time third. It’s the first time since 2018 Hampton and Richmond have won 4 on the trot.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker played 71 minutes as Aveley won 1-0 at 16th place Margate. With leaders Hornchurch drawing the gap at the top is down to 3 points (but Hornchurch have a game in hand).

Isthmian North
Louie Arrowsmith played 86 minutes for Heybridge at struggling Tilbury. They got off to an early lead and it proved to be the only goal of the game. Tilly’s Swifts remain 3 points outside the playoff spots.

Ibrahim Kamara and Jacob Bland both started for Great Wakering but Omari Williams started his loan spell on the bench. They fell behind to Stowmarket on the half hour and their high flying opponents made it 2 on the stroke of half-time. Although Great Wakering pulled one back early second half, Stowmarket ran away with it, winning 4-1. Omari Williams made his Wakering debut as a sub on 61 minutes. Jacob Bland was booked on 81 minutes. The defeat means they miss the chance to leapfrog Tilbury after their defeat to Heybridge.

In the Combined Counties Premier, Fin Purcell got a trip to Wembley, although probably not the stadium you’re rethinking of. They fell behind early on and ended up losing 2-1. He apparently made one great save though.

Aveley were in action midweek in the Essex Thameside Trophy. Oli Coker came on and scored with his first touch to put them 3-0 up. He later hit the post from a free kick.

Elsewhere two Blues youngsters joined East Thurrock on loan : Mo Amir and Max Fiddes.

The player Kevin Maher needs to be keeping an eye on is Jack Wood. After an unpromising start to his spell at Tonbridge, which included a spell on the bench, he seems to be finding his feet. Tonbridge fell 1-0 behind to Hungerford on 11 minutes but Wood equalised 4 minutes later and 7 minutes later gave them the lead. Tonbridge added a further two before half time but Wood went off early second half. I hope they were resting him but being subbed inside an hour isn’t a good sign. Hungerford made it close and Tonbridge were holding on in the end. It finished 4-3. Wood was later awarded Man of the Match. He has 5 goals in his last 4 NLS matches.

Elsewhere in the NLS Jaden Crowhurst was back in the bench alongside Tommy Davis for Hampton and Richmond having been absent for a while. Neither came on though as they lost 1-0 to Farnborough.

Isthmian Prem
After a goalless first half Coker hit a volley against the Brightlingsea crossbar only for Brightlingsea to go the other end and score. Aveley then fought back to equalise and Brightlingsea had a man sent off in injury time for a second yellow but held on for the draw through 6 minutes of injury time.

Isthmian North
No Louie Arrowsmith for Heybridge - presumably his substitution in the last match was down to injury - but Max Fiddes was on the bench for East Thurrock. Fiddes came on for his debut on 77 minutes as Thurrock tried to recover from 1-0 down but it finished that way. No Mo Amir who was announced as having joined them on loan - he played for the youths in their win today instead.

Ibrahim Kamara, Jacob Bland were joined for a full debut for Wakering by Omari Williams as they took on Wroxham. The resurgent Rovers took a lead on 11 minutes and added a second on 35 minutes but conceded just before the break to former Blues youth Josh Hazell. They added a third on 50 minutes to seemingly make it safe but defender Bland went off on 52 minutes. Soon after Wroxham got one back. Hazell then equalised again on 75 minutes. It finished 3-3.

Combined Counties Prem
Finley Purcell was in goal as Chalfont St Peter hosted North Greenford Utd. He made an important save but Chalfont lost 2-1.

Jaden Crowhurst came on for the last minute of Hampton and Richmond’s 3-1 win at Taunton. Former Southend loanee Nat Jarvis was sent off for Taunton in that one. Tommy Davis was an unused sub.

NLS
Jack Wood, who went off injured last week, was missing for Tonbridge who lost 4-0 at 3rd placed Oxford City.

Hampton and Richmond weren’t in action.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker scored what turned out to be the winner at Haringey Borough converting from close range after an indirect freekick was pulled back to him. That made it 2-0 late on

Haringey made it close with a consolation and Oli Coker was subbed on 88 but Aveley held on to win 2-1. Aveley are now 4th but just two points off the leaders with everyone now having played the same number of games. They host leaders Bishops Stortford on Saturday and then travel to 3rd place Canvey on Easter Monday in what is a massive weekend for them.

Isthmian North

Also still presumably injured is Louie Arrowsmith who missed Heybridge’s game.

Jacob Bland and Ibrahim Kamara both started in Great Wakering’s relegation six pointer at Tilbury. Omari Williams was on the
bench. Tilbury took the lead on 28 minutes but Wakering equalised 10 minutes later. Kamara was booked soon after. Wakering were then reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half-time. It then took just six minutes of the second half for Tilbury to make their man advantage count. However Wakering fought back to equalise again on 66 minutes, this time from the spot. Three minutes later they took the lead for the first time. On 80 they then extended their lead but Tilbury pulled one back on 83. Omari Williams came on as sub in stoppage time and helped secure the win for a resurgent Wakering who move above Tilbury in the table.

No Fin Purcell for Chalfont St Peter. Am assuming their first choice is fit again.

No Tommy Davis again for Hampton and Richmond. He’s been struggling with a knee injury. Jaden Crowhurst who was an 89th minute sub last time out wasn’t on the bench either.

Jack Wood played as Tonbridge fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to second place Dartford. He was subbed on 67 minutes. He also played 90 minutes Good Friday in their 1-1 draw at home to Hemel (they were rained off Monday). Todays defeat leaves them 6 points off the playoff placed and all but ends their playoff hopes.

Isthmian Prem
Oli Coker had a shot brilliantly saved by the centre half as Aveley took on 8th placed Horsham. No penalty was given. Aveley fell behind early and it was the only goal of the game. That’s now Aveley and Oli Coker’s second defeat in a row after losing to leaders Bishop’s Stortford over Easter and ends any automatic promotion hopes.

Isthmian North
Jacob Bland and Ibrahim Kamara started for Wakering as they played leaders Hashtag. They were 4-0 down by half-time with former Southend statue Greg Halford netting the third from the spot. Omari Williams came on in the 74th minute with them 5 down. Hashtag addded a 6th before the end. It was Wakering’s 3rd defeat in a row.

Louie Arrowsmith was on the bench for Tilly’s Heybridge after injury. He missed their Easter Monday clash v Wakering in which Bland and Kamara played for Wakering in a 2-0 defeat. The duo also played Easter Saturday in Wakering’s 2-1 defeat v Grays.

Southern Combination Counties or whatever it’s called
Fin Purcell played for Chalfont St Peter against champions Ascot Utd. Chalfont had a man sent off and lost 3-0 although Purcell apparently pulled off some good saves. @Lord Football how did he do?
