Local Driving Instructors

Davros

The Whippet
Anyone know any good ones, or is learning with a good one currently please PM me. Would prefer not to use one of the big names, as from experiance, you dont tend to get as personal service.

cheers

I was told to avoid the "Big" driving schools like BSM because they're ridiculously overpriced for what is essentially the same product sold at all driving schools. I do think it's important that you find one that you're comfortable with.

My own instructor sat me down on my first lesson and said "Look, I know what it's like learning to drive... Some instructors can be a right handful and it's all about how you learn individually. We'll have this lesson, and if you decide that you might be best off with someone else, that's fine, I won't be offended at all."

As it happens, his laidback approach was what I was after and I went with him.

Pitsea School of Motoring....

Basically a 'one man band' who offers top quality service. PM me if you want his number.

Pitsea driving school? Do they do lessons in drive-bys, car jacking and advanced evasive maneuvers?

I learnt with Panda of Southend.....unfortunately i think they have long since gone.

Not sure it matters who you go with but as the person above said, its important that you are happy with the person teaching you. If they arent someone you can get on with it wont matter how much you pay for a lesson or with who.

thanks for the recommendations guys. Had already called the Hawkwell chap as it goes, but he is fully booked at the mo. Number 11 emailed me a very good chap and went with him in the end, but green to all those with suggestions

cheers

I had a chap called Mick, used to smoke like a trooper and call you a "f-cking idiot" and the such like when you messed up. Worked well for me :)

If that falls on deaf ears, I used this geezer in Shoebury called Tim. I think his school was called In-Tuition or something like that. The Bro and I passed first time as did loads of the other chaps I grew up with in the hood!!

I passed with this guy back in 1989.

He said my haircut was dangerous and made me wear an Alice band during lessons.

hahahaha i can picture that!!! he's a bit of a nutter, but a good guy really and a decent instructor
