Looking on the Dark side

Even in the Essex Senior League if 'we' started well we'd probably get crowds of around 2500 home and away (because lets face it an away game in the ESL is never going to be far..), with the capacity to attract a lot more. So it would have to be a ground that could probably hold around 5k. Maybe Billericay Town? Not a bad little ground nowadays, think it can seat around 2000 as well.

Realistically it would depend on who owns the ground, the goodwill towards the football club (let's face it, Ron's stiffed most people in south Essex over the years with his dealings) and financial arrangements. Does Billericay Town own New Lodge? Also they're an ambitious club, they will be eyeing up our spot as the number one club in south Essex. Not sure why it would be in their interests to help us. Same goes for Concord.

I'd say Wakering more likely as there is more of a relationship there or so it seems. But not sure who owns Burrough's Park.

The interesting thing would be to see how the council reacts to its football club going pop, given that it is a major player in the planning applications at Fossetts/Roots Hall. Would it insist on part of that land at Fossetts being kept clear for a smaller stadium even if there wasn't means for a new club to build one?

Think you over estimate ......The support would shrink and never recover. Many who don't live in or near the town might as well watch their local sides who would be playing at a higher level......At my age couldn't be bothered as it wouldn't hold any attraction taking years to get back to the league 2 level even.
Might not help the local MP in is drive for city status when he boasts about the area having a football team in the Essex senior league either.

A Phoniex club will never be the same. That’s literally the last resort. You would never get 2500 to a game.. couple of hundred if your lucky. Most fans would be to disillusioned to carry on, especially watching a team that they have no real affinity to in a middle of a park on a wet and miserable Saturday afternoon.

It doesn’t matter though, because we will fight on, we will survive. We are Southend United till we die!!!!

Make you right. I had a hypothetical conversation on my SUFC whatsapp group the other day, all of whom are die hard fans who have been going for 20 years + and only about half of them said they'd be on board with a phoenix team. In fairness most of them live well outside the area now.
