Post-Match Thread and Ratings Macclesfield Town 0, Southend United 2

Just heard the interview from the Macc manager, good to hear some honest comments from a manager, and a bit of respect. Also cracking to hear that "sometimes you have to concede that your up against a good team, and thats why they're top of the league"

Agree with Lincoln Shrimp's excellent summary, which highlights the system whch PS adopts in order to get out of Div 2. With a little more composure we could have had 2 more goals in the last 5 mins, first Dicky with the one on one and then Leonard, who screwed a shot wide when it looked as though he would bury it when played in nicely. Some of our football was a delight. We have a great squad and there appears to be a super team spirit. The next 3 matches (Oxford, twice and then Preston) should give us an indication of how good we are and also an opportunity for those who were not involved on Sat to show their paces. Onwards and upwards. ( Is there a more spectacular drive to a ground than the one we took on Sat through the Derbyshire Dales? Shame that the Porche driver who could not negotiate the bends nearly caused us to miss the kick off)

Kalala - 6 - He did a job, he's athletic and disciplined, however he didn't show much quality on the ball other than making 5 yard passes to Timlin. Maybe that's all Sturrock wants from him, and he obviously gives a platform to the midfield.

That's his game. He is our best player when the opposition have the ball and our worst player when we have it.

Very professional performance in awkward conditions. Could have had more goals (liam's one on one, Mohnsi may have had another. Leonard too had a chance to shoot early when he came on) Only moments of trouble came after their double substitution, when Daniels saved a couple of times (one may have been going wide anyway couldn't see from that far away)

Never, ever if I lived in Macclesfield would I sing " oh maccy maccy, maccy maccy maccy maccy Macclesfield" how embarassing it that!

Much preferred the chant from our end "Daveswebbsbrain your insane" (kind of sums it up nicely)

Haha that's exactly the crash that held me up too! Its a stunning drive over from Sheffield, especially If you set your sat nav to 'shortest route' and take the single track lanes

we should get the zombie to pre match announce at the hall...so funny....and did anyone see Mohsni, late in the second half... after going down in the macc Pen area like he was really injured, do some sort of roll and bounced up with a spring in his step after the ref had run all the way over to see if he was okay....hilarious....UTB

Dickinson - 7 - Worked really hard and held the ball up well. Slower than I thought he'd be, but it was a tidy performance and set up Ryan Leonard for a shot at the end with a neat flick.

Remember Dicko has an ankle problem that is being managed through to the end of the season when he has surgery so IMHO he's done remarkably well thus far. Another great piece of business by Luggy!
