March Fixtures 2021

Oh dear - unless I am much mistaken, things are not going to plan.

Bring on The Iron .................... "if the kids are united" will no doubt be ringing out tomorrow .....

Upcoming fixtures look the most likely for us to put some points on the board. If we think we can get 3 points Walsall and Carlisle at home look possible Harrogate away should get a least a draw and loose at Morecambe.
What do anyone else think we might acheive?

Draw was like a loss under the circumstances.
IF we had snatched a point under reverse circumstances it would have felt like a bonus; as it is the team and manager will have to look at their part and know that Tuesday is bigger for that.
AND 4 points from the two games would make Wednesday a happier day to progress on to the next.

A win on Tuesday night would give us an outside chance, closing the gap to four points on Colchester, should they lose, and five to Walsall (although six in reality given goal difference).

After that it's a combination of digging out enough points to keep us afloat and praying that one of Walsall or Col Ewe have a complete collapse. Barrow are technically in trouble as well but their form has picked up and should be fine.

Following Walsall, potential wins against Carlisle, Orient and, um, Col Ewe will give us a chance; I can't see us getting anything against Harrogate (strong, powerful side), Morecambe for obvious reasons or Exeter (great footballing side), leaving Barrow and Newport. If the former are safe and the latter find themselves in the Sunderland-esque situation of being safely in the play-offs but not able to clinch automatic promotion we may eek points there as well.

A draw on Tuesday would be a huge blow and defeat realistically the end. Obviously Grimsby are still in with a shout but not if we can gather enough points to give us a chance.

Without wishing to talk in too many cliches , I do think Tuesday is pretty much a MUST WIN.
If we do , we are 5 points behind them.
Could have been 3 had we held on yesterday.
Think Walsall have some quite tough fixtures to come.
They also had a player sent off yesterday who will be missing on Tuesday - not sure if he is one of their key players or not ?
