Was confirmed as the new manager at Grays Athletic a few days ago. Was interviewed on BBC Essex last night, and cited Steve Tilson as the manager who he aspires to follow, as ST is laid back and was good to work with as a player. Says he loves coaching, and is looking forward to the challenges ahead. Wish him all the best, as he always gave his all for us.

That rarest of trebles for Mark Bentley last night: managed the team, scored a goal and saved a penalty (after his goalkeeper was sent off). Don't remember Tilson doing that !

2-0 down at half-time he inspires them with a team-talk, scoring the equaliser himself and then saving a late penalty.

He's not a man but a God.

Mark Bentley....quality !

See copy and paste from BBC Football Gossip column;

Grays Athletic player-manager Mark Bentley led by example when he came off the bench to score the equaliser in a Ryman Premier League match against Hampton and Richmond Borough before going in goal and saving a penalty after his keeper was sent off. His side went on to win 3-2. :omg:

One of my all time favourite players !!

You got nothing less than 100% in every game he played , he never shirked a tackle and you could tell just how much he loved playing football.

Top top man !!

Agreed. Should have kept him when we went up to the Championship.
