Just a few thoughts on last night.
It was an outstanding team performance with us defending as a unit and taking them on the counter attack. Committment was good and tactics were spot on.
Flahavan 8 - Looked very solid again, made some excellent saves and was in very good spirits all night. Was loving him wind up Windass and celebrating the sending off with the fans!
Jupp 8 - Superb last night. Supported attack well and defended well against Petta. Took criticism after Saturday but came back strong.
Wilson 8 - excellent. Defended with a big heart. Shows he can play this division.
Barrett 8 - Another strong performance from Barrett. Kept two good strikers in check.
Edwards 8.5 - Well played Eagle. Another player who many think wouldn't cut the mustard in this league - prooved them wrong. Always looks good playing with Barrett.
Maher 9 - Superb. Best player on the pitch either side. Enough said.
Bentley 8 - What an engine this boy has. Box to box - defending was excellent. Big head ache for Tilly when Jay comes back. It would be very difficult to leave him out.
Cole 7 - Quiet in the first half but came into the game in the second. Showed signs of terrifying defences when his confidence grows. Thought crossing looked dangerous.
Guttridge 7 - Didn't set the world alight but thought passing looked snappy and got about the park. Took his goal tremendously well. Disappointed to hear some criticising of him at half time especially as we were playing well.
Eastwood 7 - Some nice touches and excellent running. Marked very well by Wetherhall - but he allowed Gray to find space.
Gray 8.5 - Superb. Intelligent running, scaring the living daylights out of the opposition. Keep it up.
Gower looked keen and fitter than he's been for a while and Petts was tidy as per normal, just wish he'd cross a ball first time!
Overall - nice stadium, lovely pitch which we used well. Great three points and will give us all confidence. Great support from 250 odd fans who made the journey. Bring on the Walsall!
