Question MatchDay Vlogs for the new season!

Where should I do my vlogs from

Hi all,

Hope you’re enjoying the lovely weather we’ve had so far and enjoying the break from what Southend has to offer us every week 😉

Thought I’d make this thread to gauge some interest/thoughts for how the vlogs will operate in the coming season.

I recently put a poll out on my social accounts asking where people would like to see the Vlog come from, options being to keep the same seat and angle in the West Stand OR move into the north for the season and soak up the atmosphere.

As those polls were so closely split and I understand some people tend not to use social media I’ve resorted to asking you amazing lot!

Simply put; continue the Vlog‘s from the same seat or move to the north?

Any responses below are gladly appreciated.
And finally, it is FCA voting time again ( a bit earlier this year) I will leave a link below any votes once again are tremendously appreciated! I will be running for the best in non-league category as I have done in previous years.

Many thanks and enjoy your evening 💙

Hi Pip,

Just from the aspect of an overall view of the game, my vote is to maintain the West Bank. That's just me though.

I totally understand the opinion of film from the NB and be closer to the home atmosphere.
I hope that helps you.

Im sure the videos will still be as great as always wherever you decide, better view of action and the match from west, but will capture the atmosphere better in the north I suppose.

Pip your videos are fantastic and become a huge part of post match routines for so many
For me i like it when you are in amongst the fans so if NB really takes off then that could be the place to be next season. But you do get a better perspective from the West. My only criticism would be where you are seated you have the ladders etc in the way of the south goal/penalty area.

Sit where you want to sit. At the end if the day you have to enjoy where you sit otherwise you'll lose the reason you make these videos in the first place.

Perhaps switch it up for cup games, but league you have your set seat (wherever you decide upon)

I notice on most filming, whether its our socials being taken from the pitch or your own vlogging, the North bank is captured mostly to halfway up before the rest of the stand is mostly hidden through light changes mostly. It would be hilarious to capture some carnage in a packed North after goals further back in the North stand. No one has really filmed up the back with a pitch view and the whole stand in front of them with a packed stand. From experience, the singers are in the back half i would say, though the front half got a lot louder later, certainly the drum is right up the back and sounds like Queen at Wembley lol simply thundering. If you position in the first section through the door, its a good angle to film the game from but be aware everyone stands so that might bugger up filming.
The atmosphere in the last 3 homes in there was electric frankly, you wont get a view of the away fans until you get to probably the 3rd section, with the Blue Voice officially in the 2nd section, or struggle at least..
I think seating will be at a premium soon when NB tickets go on gen sale availability for seasos, i think many will secure their seats and itll be a big increase in the ground of new seasos, we'll see.

Of course, the other way round this is to go W block West, having the vocals of NB right at you. By the way, so glad to read you'll be back next season, love your presenting style, devotion to the club and respect for all your effort to get home and away. Where would i prefer to see you vlogging from? North bank definetly. Cant hear yourself think in there at times, W block not a patch on atmosphere in comparison when it was close to a sell out. Hope that helps Pip.

The view in the North is pretty poor, a more central viewpoint is more conducive to a better Vlog I'd say.

You could perhaps move to block V in the West which is kind've a half way house between enjoying/joining in with creating an atmosphere and a decent-ish view. Unfortunately you're gonna have some sort of post/gantry in the way at almost anywhere in the stadium as it exists currently anyway.

I think for the purposes of the blog D you’d be better off in the west so you can capture the scenes in the north as a spectacle rather than from the eye of the storm, while having a better view of the game.

Of course that means you might miss out yourself so do what you want to do personally above all else!

I agree with others that it has to be your choice. Given that you live away from Southend, it is a major effort to get to home games, which needs to be appreciated, quite apart from your amazing commitment to get to away games. The view is certainly better for those who watch the vlogs, when you are filming from the West Stand, and you have certainly captured the atmosphere of delight and celebration in all of the ground from filming in the West Stand, although I recognise it may be more rampantly chaotic in the North Bank.

I also recognise you have to film from where we are placed at away grounds, but some of the viewing points just show how poor some away grounds are, in times of sightlines, light exposure, etc.

Just want to say, whatever you decide, we thank you. As others have said, your vlogs are so much a part of our post-match routines, especially as they frequently land before official highlights packages.
