Medical Exemption cards

If you, or family relatives, have Medical Exemption cards, you need to be aware that the onus is now on YOU to ensure your card is renewed. They used to be done automatically but now you need to get a form from your doctor, which is sent off approximately a month before your old one runs out.

If you overlook or forget to do this, you will be charged for any prescriptions you request during the time between which your old one runs out and your new one starts. If you claim for them free when your card has run out, this is classed as fraud apparently!

Please do check yours and your old folks' exemption cards, my local chemist said some people had actually been fined for forgetting to renew theirs, while claiming for meds! :stunned:
