Reading about the debacle of Tuesday's postponement and the uncertainty surrounding the Swindon game has reminded me of the awful feeling of arriving in a strange town after a long journey to be confronted with the grim news that the game you'd anticipated seeing is... off.

I remember driving up to Cleethorpes on a very wet A1 in December '88 intending to watch our beloved Blues take on Grimsby, getting there about 2 to be told that the game was off due to a waterlogged pitch. The inspection had taken place at 1.30 apparently... so no chance of anyone travelling from Southend having a chance of avoiding some disappointment due to the length of journey involved.

Anyone care to reminisce about postponements that have peed you off- excepting the 'Scunny-not-funny' of course...

I too was there Shrimpero .. I was on the supporters coach run by Marion and Chris Cave, the vast majority of us wanted to go to another game (Leeds was mooted i believe) but they insisted we just head for home .. boy were we peeved at that !!!

The only other time i've arrived at an away game to find it postponed was a couple of years later at erm .. Grimsby (god i HATE that town) i drove up with shrimptank and a couple of others, arriving about half 6 to a very foggy Blundell Park to hear the news it was off .. we were shown into one of their exec boxes and given a massive platter of food and told we could stay as long as we wanted (the bar was just outside the door too) .. Their manager, Alan Buckley, heard about us and popped in for a chat and a thoroughly pleasant evening was had by all

Nice one, BB- yeah, food was the only consolation in Cleethorpes when I was there. Found a fantastic chippy on the front & stuffed myself (just for a change)... Buckley's a bit of a stalwart, isn't he? Is he still involved somewhere? Whoops, I'm :offtopic:
