He has a tough job ahead. Ron only pays peanuts to the ticket kids/staff. You get what you pay for.

I sent an email last night and got an immediate response which is positive. He didn't respond to my objection to admin fee for tickets even when collected.
Roughly 10% is extortionate for administration of tickets.
I just want to pay for a ticket for away matches as I live 240 miles from Southend and then collect at the away ground, rather than having them posted and worrying about non arrival etc. Apparently there are inconsistencies and this is the main problem.

Make sure I understand this. You want to pay the club for an away ticket, which you presumably pay for by credit card (for which the club incur a charge). You are not happy to have it posted to you. You want the club to send it (or take it) back to the club from which it was originally sent and you want this club to set up a facility for you to collect it when you get there (note: not all clubs have an "away ticket office"). And for all this you object to paying an admin fee.

Danny has his work cut out dealing with the shambles that is the ticket office staff and the ticket system. There are signs that the new system does have most of the facilities one would expect, if the staff are up to implementing them properly.

Hopefully he won't have to spend too much time dealing with people with unreasonable demands.

Mick, you don't by chance work in Customer Services...?

Quite often I have collected the ticket at the away ground and not paid any admin, but not always and it is the inconsistency I don't like. More than willing to pay cash on collection if that suits you. The tickets are sent by the away club and given that our officials travel to the away ground, admin is minimal, in fact they are sometimes sent on supporters coach.
We are not talking of thousands or even hundreds in my position of being an exile. No problem for those living in Essex to obtain tickets, but more difficult and more expensive for exiles.
Sorry if I offended your sensitivities, I was informing of lack of consistency, not looking for pithy comments such as yours:smile:

For me the club really miss a trick with half the boxes being seemingly empty each matchday. We (as a group of lads) used to jump on the cheaper boxes for the JPT, League Cup and FA Cup nights as they were considerably subsidised which meant I have more chance of filling a box for Blues and Non Blues match to come along to the football. Although the facilities are borderline embarassing, the lads still attended for £20 maybe £25 a head as they got a bit of food and we could drink beers during the warmth whilst the game took place around us. The past two seasons the club have got greedy by increasing the prices and therefore having a loss of revenue on filling the box but also losing out of potential repeated custom and ten lads drinking beers for 3 hours!!!!

Another pal who is Blues season card holder with his daughter enquired about a mascot package, bearing in mind that his daughter has all of the kits for the past few seasons (let alone this seasons full strip) he responded to the clubs plea to snap up the late available places. He proposed a reduced cost as she has the kit, but they wouldn't budge. Not only is that lost revenue, it ****ed off a loyal supporter who travels home and away most weeks.

By all means email Danny, I think you make a fair point!

Sadly hard nosed commercialism always comes before keeping fans on side. Fans are seen as punters to be stung for the maximum the market will stand. Innovation is often lacking at all levels of football, whereby deals such as kids for a quid are rarely maintained and clubs seem content to see empty seats or boxes not occupied. Is it any wonder that most clubs struggle financially?

My sensitivities are not easily offended. I seem to have got it right. You want one of our officials, maybe Ron himself?, to personally transport your ticket to the away game. Now it seems you'd like him to take cash for it ! All because you don't trust the post? Allegedly about 1 in every 16,500 letters are lost by the Post Office; that's nearly 800 seasons of away games! :winking:

I went to a A- league match here in Melbourne on Thursday night. Bought ticket online, printed ticket out at home and scanned at turnstile. All for $32- around about 15 pounds.

The zone at its best

Not sure it's an entirely fair comparison. A new state of the art (it looks impressive) stadium build at a cost of over A$275 million which plays host to two A-League teams, Rugby League Test matches and sell-out concerts amongst other things is always likely to have better facilities than Roots Hall.

BTW is that disgraceful ex-player, Muscat still in charge there ?

I didn't even have to contact Danny before he had got in touch with me regarding what happened while trying to get col ewe tickets. What a top bloke, and I think he will do well in sorting out any issues we as fans have. Restored my faith in Sufc within 24 hours of it being knocked for 6. Nice to know that sometimes in modern football, the fans are still cares About. Shame bigger clubs don't follow the same example

I'm glad that he could help you.

He seems a good egg. He has his work cut out though and he's aware of that.

Let's not forget this club loses a sizeable chunk of money every month and is operating with a skeleton staff. There's very little budget for anything.

you may be right there mick but the technoly is there. i can book. tickets for my local theatre groups poduction online. and yes that thug muscat is still at victory

At least he's willing to engage with supporters and is looking to make changes where he can.
