Best selling author of "Jurassic Park" and other thrillers Michael Crichton has died at the age of 66.
The writer and film-maker, who was a Harvard-trained physician, also created the popular television series 'ER.' Crichton, the doctor-turned-author of best-selling thrillers such as "The Terminal Man" and a Hollywood writer and director whose credits include "Westworld" and "Coma," died in Los Angeles on Tuesday "after a courageous and private battle against cancer," his family said in a statement. He was 66.

For nearly four decades, the 6-foot-9 writer was a towering
presence in the worlds of publishing and film making.
