No real surprises there. Glad to see Maximo Park doing well. Got Doves yesterday & top album it is (although I've only really read negative reviews for it), seeing them on Thursday night, so cannot wait!

Where will the wonderful "Midweeks" journey take us this week I wonder?

indeed, where... i was expecting Ron to have popped in with his Tuppence by now!!

The only real surprise in the top 20 IMO is Reflekt, but then Positiva have been on quite a good run of late, so maybe not a surprise.

Im guessin Elvis may be turfed off number one by Sunday, but it is outselling Nelly by 200%, but whether distributors have pressed enough remains to be seen...

Perhaps as Mr Manager is between jobs this week he, in the words of Why Don't You, has "switched off and gone to do something more interesting instead!"

Perhaps everyone is too keyed up about getting 3 points tonight?

Or maybe he is on a website scanning the hotels of Cardiff??

Maximo Park are quality. Some good music being released this week in the 'Top 30' part, along with Nelly's tone. Shame about Verbal-f**kin-licious though. That is cr@p!

Do i find myself agreeing with Kev twice in two weeks.

What, the "Round in My Head" one with the country singer geezer...? Feck, for once, I hope the King wins... that song is as dull as dishwater.

Not that I'm trying to be all "Indie Superior" or anything but I have absolutely no idea who the hell Verbal-f**kin-licious are, and long may it stay that way!

some 17 year old female rapper who won a radio 1 comp, and now thinks shes it, with the most drivally piece of rnb/pop tripe ive heard for a long while

The last Elvis release i have here is...

April 25th
Elvis vs. JXL - A Little Less Conversation (RCA)

which i will be buying (the only one i will as well) as i was stupid enuf to miss it the first time round....

Incidently on this day is when Louise is meant to release her comeback single - 'Bouncing Back'. Altho its not really a comeback really as she released Pandoras Kiss late 2003 (which had a kick *** mix by Pascal).

I bought the last one, but failed to get into it even though the singles that were on MTV2 were great tracks.

Indeed, I am too busy watching DVDs to spend much time on here.

Yeah but you couldn't keep away though could ya?

yay.. Ron!!

What r ur mewsings and viewings on these here charts??

I have been meaning to join one of these threads for weeks so here goes...

personally I think the charts have lost their magic. These days a number one record stays top for a couple of weeks with nearly all no.1's just going straight in and we no longer see songs making a gradual climb up the chart. The last time I can remember this happening was in late '94 Yousso N'Dour/Neneh Cherry which was a real "grower", entering in the low 30's, gradually making it's way into the top 10 after a number of weeks.

to regain any credibility I have a simple 3 point plan.

- the download chart needs to be accounted for in the overall sales. Generally the download charts has a lot less crap in it.
- Radios should not playlist songs until their release. Currently by the time a song comes out you have already had your fill of it as the radio stations have already hammered it to death
- The above rule should also apply to the music video channels

I think by doing this it would help combat the problem of MP3's being distributed weeks before the song is released which means people may actually have to buy the song.

just my 2 pence on the commerical music scene.

Any good?  Quite enjoyed Ms. Silvas' debut single - touch of Kate Bush there, I thought, which is no bad thing.  Some of the key modulations were v. "Wuthering"...

My views? OK then....

Elvis - This is all getting a tad tedious. I just hope EMI don't get the same idea with The Beatles back catalouge. As much as I love The Fab Four I feel that dominating the charts with old stuff is bad for new music.

Kaiser Chiefs, Futureheads and Idlewild - The indie kid in me is of course happy that they are all in the top ten.

Girls Aloud - Do you know what, I think they are very good at what they (and of course their writers and producers) do, fantastic throw away pop songs so good luck to them I say.

Doves - They rock and continue to make fantastic albums. The rest of the album top ten is overall quite strong and fairly diverse in my opinion.

Will have to give the broadband connection back to my missus soon as she's working from home today, so I'll look forward to reading where this thread leads later this evening. In the mean time I shall be watching 'That Peter Kay thing' on DVD
