Migrant "children" from Calais

That sort of information, other than the snide comment about "then once they arrive here his mental health issues should cease with the help of taxpayers money, every one wins." should be known only to the individual , Social Services and the Doctors involved, the latter two should not have divulged the details ,.

So, unless the person involved has broadcast it himself, in which case there should not be a problem in saying where the information came from, then someone in Essex Social services Adults, or Childrens department (depending on the age) has possibly jeopardised their job.

Of course if the individual concerned is not a child, the comment about wanting his Mum and Dad is an irrelevance as they have no parental responsibility and as such there will be no preferential treatment given , unless he has the ability to house and support them.

Proper snide statement indeed.

that's a bit more interesting than - there is an Iranian in Rochford.

so - what is the back story on this? What are his reasons for leaving sunny Iran etc?

Why does it matter what the back story is. An illegal is an illegal. End of story. If you're fleeing persecution or personal danger you can claim asylum in any safe country you get to once out of your country of origin. If that is indeed you're reason for fleeing. The fact this person decided he wanted to come to Britain illegally made his reasons for initially leaving Iran, or wherever, irrelevant.

I agree Illegal is illegal , and as such they have no recourse to public funds so either the bit in the story where they were assessed by health professionals and social workers is incorrect or the use of the word illegal is incorrect.

Asylum seekers are just that, once they have been told they have no right to remain and they stay they become illegal immigrants , or they enter the country and don't seek asylum . Either way, no recourse to public funds....

There are even residency permits which stipulate no recourse to public funds.

This isn't quite correct.

It is possible to qualify under the care act of 2014 if an adults need is urgent, and can be agreed by the LA, regardless of whether they have recourse to public funds or not.

In addition the Mental health act of 1983 would work in tandem with the above, and there could be duties towards a patient regardless of immigration status.

Considering this, it is entirely plausible that health or Social care professionals could become involved.
