As I've said on other phone threads I made a huge mistake when I was due my latest upgrade with Vodafone and got a Blackberry.

After a couple of months of various discussions about their past terrible customer service with Vodafone, I've finally realised there's no way I can get another phone out of them, unless I bite the bullet, close my account and pay off my line rental that's due until October next year.

I've been using my old Nokia (the one the upgrade was supposed to replace) for the past few months but it's now over 2 years old and is getting dodgy in terms of battery life & call quality, plus since Vodafone upgraded their WAP access platform to be more in line with the internet the service I can get has gone downhill dramatically.

So, my Mrs has decided she wants to get a PAYG SIM card and give this & my Blackberry to her sister as a Xmas present. That got me thinking and if I went out & bought a Vodafone PAYG phone, what is there to stop me putting my SIM card into the new phone & the new unused PAYG SIM into my unloved & unwanted Blackberry? Does anybody know if they chip the phones so this can't be done? I know I cannot use an Orange PAYG SIM in my old Nokia for example (I tried one year on holiday) but guessed it was due to different mobile companies/networks.

Ta in advance!

The only problem I can foresee is if the person getting the Blackberry wants to sync to their PC, the SIM will need to be activated for this sort of use.

putting a different sim into a different make mobile can be fixed. you can get this un-locked from some private phone shops. i no rayleigh lanes does it for a fiver.

From what I can make of it, there are only Vodafone sims involved. If there are all only going to be used as phones, no worries
