Just got round to watching Fridays first episode of the new C4 comedy, Nathan Barley.

Written and directed by Chris Morris (The Day Today, Jam, Brass Eye etc) who is one of my favourite comedians - though he isnt actually in it, the script is unmistakeably Morris! His use of language is what cracks me up:-

"...watch me get evil on Pingu's head with a lorry battery"

This is a tame example as I cannot remember any more at the mo, but people who know Morris' work will understand!

The funniest thing about NB tho, is its total ****-take of modern culture. The multi-media webmaster, stupid Bluetooth headsets, people who adopt new phrases to be 'cool' and a cracking ****-take of mobile phones...

This probably wont appeal to a lot of people, but if you are bored on Friday night, give it a go!

Anyone for a game of "****, Muff, Bumhole?"

I think Nathan Barley started life as the main character in a fictional TV program called c**t in a spoof web version of TV times (Gestalt?)

If you do a google search for Nathan Barley it is the first link returned. It may not be work friendly for obvious reasons.

Sounds familiar. It has been going ages and there is a compendium of all the Nathan Barley listings somewhere.....

I used to work in Hoxton and it is full of these sort of clowns.

Yea, apparantly it started life on TVGOHOME, but Barley was a slightly different (more of a c**t) character than he is in this.

I must say, I watched the first episode and found it hilarious.

my mate works in "New Media" and I think they've captured their office envirnoments to a tee.

Described the 'medjah generation' with terrific accuracy, for one who has had to audit advertising agencies and various medjah establishments it was brilliant to see the **** ripped out of the arrogant f**kers superbly!
