National Anthems

Am I the only person who dislikes the National Anthem sung at venues such as Mill Stad by Opera style Singers.

This infuriating scenario oringinated in the US with the Stars and Stripes being sung at Super Bowl, Boxing matches, but has now has been adopted as the norm over here for high profile sports events.

I am very much a royalist, just give me the old fashioned way of playing the anthem over the tannoy from a recording

I think its important to have the anthem it is a symbol of our country and we should be proud of it!

No it isn't - our Country is England and we don't seem to have (or be allowed) our own National Anthem.

Our national Anthem is crap.

1. I am English and yet hate the monarchy with every fibre of my being. How can this anthem represent my beliefs.

2. It is used by other countries.

3. It is too short. I prefer the Italian one and some of the South American ones that seem to go on forever.

The cameras did beam on him, Mr B and Axeman.

I also saw SUFC Spike as well on camera.

Actually, I think I was paying a visit to the gents in order to syphon off some of the Guinness / Brains that I'd consumed beforehand whilst the anthem was being played.
