Neville Southall

The thing is for those younger members on here,Neville was considered as one of the best keepers in the World.

He now looks like Jabba the Hutt.

He was big when he played for us but certainly bigger now!
Wouldn't mind him in a 5 a side team between the sticks tbf! 😂

Crikey what happened to him. Listening to the interview, the only think I could make out was Ha mongo Bargon wan chee kospah ol Jedi
Well I could understand everything he said. And totally agree with his thinking. Including what he said about taxing premier league players and big businesses more. If the premier league took a percentage of what any player was being payed over X amount, say 50 grand a week, and put that into leagues 1 and below, right down to grass roots, we for one of many, would not be needing property speculators to buy small clubs and strip all their assets. I could go on but do not want to break the political rules on here.

To be fair premier league players pay a hefty amount in tax, nearly half of what they earn goes to the tax man. I think it would easier to divert the tv money which is the main source of revenue for the premiership

Are you sure on that? Are they on PAYE? And are all the headline wages paid that way? Or are image rights etc paid through a company?

Yes remember it coming out at the start of the pandemic when a certain mp was bemoaning over paid footballers. Then someone pointed out how much revenue HMRC recieved and it all went quiet on the subject

I also seem to recall some controversy as well around image rights and taking loans instead of salary.
