Sunderland's disastrous start to the season continued against minnows Southend, a 3-1 defeat leaving Niall Quinn's side rooted to the foot of the table.

Adam Bennett scored a brace for The Shrimpers (45 and 68) and Lee Bradbury added another (89), before Jon Stead grabbed a consolation goal in the dying seconds of the game.

Thought this was gonna be about Clarke!

On the subject of Clarke, I really liked the look of him. He seems to have clicked with everyone really well already and on the playing side (with the exception of their goal!) he looked a very useful addition.

Annoys the hell out of me as well, why they can't just say 'Southend' is beyond me.
