The Echo reports tonight that two new hotels are planned in Southend, one in Victoria Avenue and the other on the old gasworks site. Will this affect the hotel development for the Fossets Farm project?

It seems all these hotel chains want to build new hotels in the area anywhere, but fossetts!

The more that build elsewhere in town mean less chance of one wanting to take up the Fossetts offer sadly.

Have to say a seafront hotel is a far more attractive position, and even Victoria Avenue is being closer to the town centre.

Ron could build instead of the hotel a row of bed and breakfast establishments catering for seedy blokes:winking:

Any hotel at Fossetts would probably look to accommodate the airport market rather than the 'summer weekend cockney' crowd.

To be honest, the new ground will never happen so it's irrelevant anyway.

Id probably stay at the new hotel next to the Airport.

I still don't understand why Ron doesn't look to open something like Ashford/Bicester/Freeport in Southend and stick the ground next to it. The town is crying out for some sort of outlet development rather than more "standard" retail shops.

What a bloody great thing, fly into Southend, take advantage of the cheap designer brands etc...
