Right i have a grand to spend on a new PC, it need to be powerful enough to do some video editing via Adobe Premiere Elements, Bit of Photoshop, Web browsing, Video streaming, P2P file sharing and obviously Shrimperzoning.

What would out resident Guru's recommend?

Cheers
Andy

Obvious suggestion, one that should stand out a mile

Dont by all that is holy go to PC World at the Airport

if you are confident then i would recommend building your own. it's really simple and quite useful to know how a computer goes together. i built my machine 4 years ago and it runs like a dream to this day, has a really good spec and only cost a grand then (2.54Ghz 1gb RAM, Shuttle PC)

Are we talking all the odds and sods like keyboard, mouse, monitor etc. or just the box?

that's what I done, £625 P4 3.2g, 250MB harddrive, 1gig RAM, Creative X-Fatality souns card, my bro put it together and it runs a treat.

Got it from AUT.

Thanks for most of your input (CS and Cricko - You both look as if you have had far to many holidays in your life time already :p ),

I have thought about building my own but not sure i can be bothered. I have added memory, changed HDD, added DVD burners in the past but im not sure i can be arsed to do it from scratch.

It will be the whole shabang Money Pit, Monitor the lot.

I have found this puppy

Hmmm... I'd avoid Mesh - not got a good name.

I personally use Aria (www.aria.co.uk) who are good and build good machines - plus do good deals. Other major stores are good too - ebuyer, dabs etc.

well a few weeks ago I put an ad on here saying that I was selling a brand new custom built pc. unfortunatly i failed and my business failed to take off how i wanted it to, but i do have an amazing pc with xp pro for sale on ebay with a buy it now price of £550 (and for those who take a look at it and know about computers will know it is worth quite a bit more). here's the link on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gaming-PC-Dual-Core-X1950-Pro-2GB-RESERVE-LOWERED_W0QQitemZ120147357641QQihZ002QQcategoryZ179QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and if you bought it for £550 then you've got another £450 to spend on software.

If you don't like the look of that pc you can visit my shop www.cell07.com and get a quote for a custom built pc and choose your components, and there's a special discount for p&p and overall price for shrimperzoners ;)

Hope this helps!!

i have to say that is quite a serious bit of kit... add on a couple of hundred for a 19inch flat screen and other bits and you'll have a nice machine for doing all the stuff you want to do!

Really how bizzare , they've always made good systems ?? (in fact my new one is working fine ). Ah wait your recommending Dabs nah ;)

Honestly what you can get for a grand these days (and its a lot ) . I would recommend Mesh or any company that will custom build your pc.
Even the top end Dell gaming systems are worth a look .

Lol yes or Staines pc's ;) (spend it on a monitor afterwards )
