There have been promotions for 8 referees who move onto the National List of referees and who will now referee Football League matches. Doubtless we will see some, if not all, of these during the forthcoming season.

Leigh Doughty from Preston (not previously involved in a Southend match)

Will Finnie from Luton (only Southend appearance was Fourth Official in that Sunderland match)

James Oldham from Derby (not previously involved in a Southend match)

Marc Edwards from Sunderland (been both Assistant and Fourth Official in a couple of away matches)

Josh Smith from Bourne, Lincs (been Assistant a couple of times - was youngest Assistant on the list at one time)

David Rock from Hertford (assisted and Fourth Official many times; he is, by profession, is a qualified coach in a variety of different sports including football)

Sam Purkiss from Highbury, London (assisted and Fourth Official many times; once sent off 5 home players in a Ryman match)

Chris Pollard from Stowmarket (assisted and Fourth Official many times; his father was a linesman at the 1999 League Cup Final at Wembley)

No news yet on those not continuing. Fingers crossed.

Good to see David Rock get promotion - seen him several times and always impressed.

Look forward to hearing about those removed from the list - no doubt we will be disappointed that a certain Mr Joyce is not amongst them.
