40inch, full HD, lcd or plasma (not fussed)... c.£500

hook me up!

Your gonna be hard pressed to get a full HD 40" for 500 notes my friend but if you can it probably won't be a recognised brand or have the highest spec in relation to contrast ratio and connectivity options, Still, good luck.

Samsung.
M&S online always have good value deals plus you get free extended warranty (& usually delivery if you can source an online voucher code)

Cheers Dave.

Rich - been looking at the Samsungs, they look very nice!

samsung is probably your best bet for quality vs price at that range - although their higher end 40"'s are probably double what you want to pay. The LCD panels are also used in Bang & Olufsen tv's, but the sound from samsung tv's is shocking, so make sure you have a surround sound. We've got a samsung tv + surround sound, which links together with the same remote etc. Far better than our Sony bravia or panasonic in other rooms (Sony seems "dated" in the menus etc, panasonic is very poor fuzzy picture. hth
