Not what you need when trying to stay in the PL, yet another example of players seemingly holding all the power

Always thought Steve Bruce was an odd appointment. I assume he was cheap as Ashley wants out and is just biding his time until a takeover happens.

a lifelong Toon fan.
This is Steve Bruce in 2010 when he managed Sunderland:

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has hit out at local rivals Newcastle United after an incident that occurred at the end of the Magpies' 5-1 victory at St James' Park last weekend.

The source of Bruce's anger was Newcastle's decision to play 'Daydream Believer' by the Monkees over the stadium's PA system immediately after the final whistle.

Newcastle fans changed the lyrics to insult Bruce personally, something which has rankled with the Black Cats boss.

"It is 71 days until the next derby at our place, not that we are counting," Bruce told Sky Sports.

"I hope we can repeat the same dosage when they come to our place.

"It was typical of that club's etiquette."

If Bruce was a boyhood Newcastle fan it doesn't seem like he was one in 2010.

Born within 16 miles of Newcastle and a lifelong Toon fan. Yeah don't know what Ashley was thinking.

Going well isn’t it appointing a man born within 16 miles of Newcastle and a lifelong fan.
