Winger? Are you sure? We have 2 wingers in MacL and MacG ....... and we let Hinesy go. And we can always push Demmy forward ......... and some on here are saying Hendrie as well.

Creative midfielder ....... to replace Atko? Not a like for like but I think I agree as without Wordy we do seem a little short of ideas at times. That rumour about Granty has gone away it seems.
Maybe not necessarily an out and out winger but someone to replace Atkinson in that they can play on the right. Quite clear that PB won't play both McL and McG at the same time so we need something on the right.

I think we definitely need cover for Wordsworth, even if he does avoid injury you could see his performance levels drop towards the end of the season whether that was due to a lack of competition or tiredness, but we didn't have any kind of similar replacement.

Yes but is he hungry?

How about these two; they always look hungry..

a) Rangers are really only the 2nd biggest team in Scotland in people's perception...they are absolutely ****ed as a club. Their league position of around 3rd or 4th is about right...big ground yes and maybe 1 or 2 European Qualifiers if they are lucky, but not a lot else to keep players there at the moment...they've just given Kenny Miller, who to be fair was their best player last season, a couple of years contract extension and he's 53 next birthday...that's where they are as a club

b) They have a new Portuguese manager who seems to be trying to build a team of cheaper Portuguese imports...I suspect a lot of their current crop of underperformers will not be welcome regardless.

See

As the average number of players formally signed during the close season to our league reaches 5.5 per club, I remain unworried , even if we have only signed one for pre season. Not only that the 0.5 people are only 2 ft 7 inches tall and the other 115 signings we can confirm from our extensive knowledge are all rubbish and the other 23 teams will fall apart, for not following our unanimous view that success critically depends on getting players in as late as possible.

By my simplistic reckoning we have let go several players who didn't show enough (or anything!) worth keeping, released a couple who might have been good back up squad lads, & had two depart for 3 year deals/security who would have been useful squad men.
NONE of whom is really shattering sad.

And of course Nile is breaking rocks under the hot sun: he will come back unfit BUT he should not have any injuries?

With Hendrie, hopefully Turner, plus Kightly we are assuredly stronger in quality.

MAF will have a full pre season, as will Cox and Anton.

Young Jack Bridge is a bit more mature? and some of the kids like Matasuka/Smith will have filled out etc

ALL GOOD eh?

just need Len to get straightened out and "with the programme".

Echo says today that we are making good progress with a CM player and also progress with other targets in addition to Turner and Kightly. PB said that everything is happening at once. Wonder if the targets in question are still the two from Scotland.

Would be great if Keirnan and Forrester are still on the radar

A summer of signing:
Turner
Kightly
Hendrie
Kiernan
Forrester

Anton resigning and Lenny staying, now that would be a good summers work

No need for Forrester- he's RW and may find that peg is taken.. suspect we are talking about a creative CM and a CB, but PB is full of lovely surprises at the moment. We were one of the top teams for goals in the league last year- no reason based on the new signings to believe that wont be the case again.

I thought for large parts of our season our midfield was seriously lacking. The creativity coming from McLaughlin and Wordsworth and both out for large parts of the season.

Even so we were one of the top scorers, and it looks like our midfield has only improved since then.

Still think we are over reliant on Wordsworth and cant rely on him to play an entire season so another central midfielder would be nice.

No !If Ferdinand were to resign it would be a sad loss.
