Well, certainly not much to say here. No previous league history between the two clubs and a referee with fairly limited experience.
We have, of course played Boreham Wood twice in the Cup - once recently, the other not so. The first in 1974 saw us progress with a comfortable 3-0 home win goals from Terry Johnson, Stuart Brace and Brian Albeson. The other was last year when we drew 3-3 after extra time and, being in the “no replay” era, we were eliminated 4-3 on penalties.
Saturday’s referee will be Aaron Jackson from Liverpool, in his third season as a National League referee and taking charge of his 31st match at this level. The previous 30 have seen 116 yellow and 3 red cards. This season’s 5 games have seen a reduction in his card count with just 14 yellows and no reds as yet.
In addition to his National League matches he has officiated in plenty of PL2 (development league) matches.
He has refereed Boreham Wood just once before, a 1-0 defeat away at Eastleigh at the end of last season.
Assistants are Josh Crofts from St Neots and Chris Myatt from Dartford. The latter was also an Assistant for our recent home match against Chesterfield. Londoner Lawrence Torz-Brown will be standing by as Fourth Official.
