We don’t have the best of records against Yeovil, even discounting our three FA Cup defeats. They have won 6 of the 12 League matches to our 4 with 2 draws. The last time we beat them at Roots Hall was in 2005/6 when 2 last minute Freddie Eastwood goals helped turn a half-time deficit into a comfortable 4-1 win. The last 5 matches against them in all competitions have produced four 0-1 defeats and a goalless draw – plenty of room for improvement.
Man in charge is the somewhat onomatopoeically named Adrian Quelch from Christchurch, a Business Development Manager (i.e. salesman) for a Bodmin-based company specialising in “innovative glass balustrade solutions”.
This is his sixth season refereeing at National League level and over those seasons he has refereed 96 matches producing 353 yellow cards and 14 reds – so nothing out of the ordinary there. I have actually seen him a few times at places like Billericay, obviously recalling the name, and he was okay. Like most referees at this level he does plenty of PL2 development matches and a bit of league Fourth Officiating. Having said that I don’t think he was totally convincing in his previous visit to Roots Hall this season for the match against Aldershot when we were even less convincing. Our only yellow amongst the 6 shown went to Dunne.
He’s not done too many games this season - just the 8, including Yeovil’s win at the Daggers and their home draw with Maidenhead. A slightly high 34 yellows and 3 reds from those matches.
Assisting will be Jeffrey Aldous from Bedford and Stephen Parkinson from Watford who performed a similar role in our Cup match against Chertsey and also our home League match against Maidenhead. The latter is a former teacher of German who now works in health and well-being. The Fourth Official is Jamaal Horne from South London, a finance officer for the London FA.
