A short Refwatch this week as there is little to say about tomorrow's referee. He is Stephen Martin from Stafford and this is his second ever match as a League referee.

His previous Southend appointments have all been as an Assistant Referee.

His card count in the Blue Square Conference last season was on the high side and, unlike last weeks debutant, his non league career contains more than his share of controversy and seemingly maverick red cards.

His solitary League match has already got his red card count up and running (2 yellows and a red).

Assisting will be Mark Mellor from Hemel Hempstead and Brummie Mark Howes from Solihull who did the same role in the same fixture last seasoin.

The team is completed by Chris Knowles from ... er, Northampton, doing the 4th Official duties. He was complicit in the disallowed Freddie Sears goal fiasco at Bristol a couple of years back.

:stunned: Really? From Northampton?!

Your summary bodes me with as much confidence as the match v Accy did
