Does anyone know if Sixfields is near enough the town centre to walk. Where are the decent pubs or is it a case of drinking outside town?

Thanks.

Yes, if you're prepared for a stroll. It's about 20/25 mins from the town centre, where there are loads of pubs. There's nothing much around the stadium in order to drink - I believe the Sixfields Tavern is closed to away fans on match days and I can't think of any others in the immediate vacinity.

From Northamptons Rivals site:

If you feel like have a pint before the game, there are a few pubs that away fans will not be allowed access to as they are for HOME FANS ONLY. Here are the selection of 'home' pubs:
CHEVYS - This is a lively music bar that is guaranteed to be packed before and after the game, whatever the result.
SIXFIELDS TAVERN - Another good place to drink, which is situated just across the road from Chevy's.
THE SPORTING BAR - inside Sixfields, it is for members only.

However, you will not be disappointed with the pubs and bars around Sixfields that WILL welcome AWAY FANS.
The Megabowl - Situated at the top of Sixfields, the huge white building cannot be missed. Pool, Bowling, the works.
TGI Fridays - closest to the ground, the theme bar sells a range of drinks and American food.

There are a few pubs on the way through from the Town Centre and Train Station that you could also try.
The Rover - a nice pub situated five minute walk away from Sixfields towards the Northampton Saints rugby ground.
Thomas A. Beckett - Just a two minute walk from the train station on the way to Sixfields.
